We had the pleasure of photographing Nell's beautifully renovated red-brick Victorian terraced house in Harringey on a sunny day earlier this year. The warm wood, lovingly restored features and beautiful collection of carefully sourced antiques really took us back in time.
Jemima Garthwaite, social media expert and founder and director of creative agency This Here http://thishe.re, lives in a Victorian terrace in Hackney, East London. Jemima commissioned friend and architect Tom Kaneko to design an ambitious extension transforming the narrow terrace into a light and open space to enjoy cooking, relaxing and entertaining friends.
On a recent trip to Copenhagen we stumbled upon Frama, an interiors store and design studio housed in a beautiful 19th century apothecary in Nyboder, central Copenhagen. Many of the original features have been kept, including the wooden medicine cabinets and ornate ceiling. The space has been thoughtfully curated but has a rustic and effortless charm.
Artist Stuart Pearson Wright and musician Polly Wright moved from Hackney in East London to rural Suffolk with their son Wulfred. Their new country pile is part barn conversion, part national trust listed castle. The ancient ivy clad walls of the castle make for an imposing and dramatic backdrop to their artists hideaway.
Threads is a small shop with big ambitions. Sitting proudly on the ever popular Bellenden Road in Peckham, London, it sells vintage clothes, accessories, furniture and homewares; handmade local items including ceramics, bags and prints; and beautiful bouquets.
Alex Noble is a fashion designer and visual artist. His avant-garde and subversive designs have been worn by style icons including Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Florence Welch and Laura Mvula. He has been commissioned by high-end brands such as Thierry Mugler and Diesel, and has collaborated with photographer Rankin and designer Jeremy Scott.
Aerende is the brainchild of former travel editor Emily Mathieson. It is an online shop selling beautiful products for the home, all of them made in the UK by people facing social challenges. We spent a day with Emily photographing her home; a Victorian terrace in St Albans that has been beautifully renovated and filled with many Aerende homewares.
Stuart Paterson is an antique dealer who scours Europe unearthing gems to bring back to the UK. His clients include discerning private buyers wishing to furnish smart houses, as well as designers and commercial clients. Stuart became an antique dealer by accident. Following a career in PR, he took a few months off to travel around France in a campervan, and ended up buying an old wine distillery and some antiques for his home.
Alexis Burke and her husband Adeel Akhtar live in a beautiful victorian conversion flat which dates back to the 1860's. It's in a little conservation area in Camberwell, a nook on the edge of Kennington and Walworth. The pair have lovingly restored the two storey flat from a rundown and pretty squalid space into a warm and colourful home filled with natural materials, big windows and lots of light.
Sophie Cook is an acclaimed contemporary ceramicist. She makes porcelain bottle, pod and teardrop vessels which are thrown and glazed in a wide range of colours. Sophie lives in a Victorian end of terrace house in East Dulwich, South East London with her husband and three sons.
In Clover is a beautiful new quarterly magazine dedicated to offline pursuits and slow living. Our 'In The Studio' with Suzie Freeman was featured in their second edition, with a lovely little write up about us.

Nell hasn't given in to the need to make the space feel bigger by using whites and minimal, contemporary furniture. She has stayed true to the house's original design and build, using colours and furniture that speak of decades past.
General Store is a small, unassuming but beautifully crafted, stocked and styled grocery shop on the ever popular Bellenden Rd in Peckham south-east London. Merlin and Gena, the passionate, knowledgable and friendly owners have created a shop with an ethical and honest approach to sourcing and selling, a real gem. Its carefully curated shelves are lined with goods that have been produced with love and care, and a strong aesthetic sense.
You may remember Suzie from an earlier post in July. We featured Suzie's home 'Flat Stanley', a beautiful little flat in Tulse Hill that she renovated and decorated with a creative mix of found, bought and made pieces.
Mima and Stef live in a late 40s art deco inspired flat in Denmark Hill, South London. Mima studied textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, and now teaches art at a local secondary school. Stef works as a 3D workshop tutor at Chelsea College of Art and Design, he also makes stuff, ranging from furniture to jewellery.
Suzie is an upholsterer and decoupage artist. She lives in a gorgeous flat in Tulse Hill, South London. When we asked her how she would define her style Suzie said - 'stuff found in skips’. She was joking, but actually does have lots of amazing things she's found abandoned, and brought back to life. She has a brilliant eye for seeing the potential in unloved furniture and her flat is full of her interesting finds. We had lots of fun exploring Suzie’s home and hearing the stories behind her style.
Tyson and Vic live in a Victorian flat in Crystal Palace, South East London. Vic bought the flat in 2007 and then a couple of years ago Tyson moved in. Tyson and Vic also work together, owning and running The Photo Emporium which offers creative photobooth experiences for hire.
